Beyond the Garden Faux Quilt

Good morning!  I HAD been busy creating the last few weeks, but all involve some retired products in one way or another.  If you're like me, you have lots of "stuff" in your stash.  I've promised myself to use up some before getting further into the new.  So here I am.  My biggest hoarding issue at the moment is pattern paper, or DSPs.  I save every single tiny piece of scraps.  What do you do with them?  Well, the faux quilt technique is perfect for small pieces!

I just love this card.  I took a piece of 4"x5" paper and glued these 1" square pieces on the paper.  I ran the whole thing through the Big Shot, first cutting with Top Note Die.  Then I embossed it with Square Lattice embossing folder.  I used the new Daffodil Delight Seam Binding ribbon, using the gathering technique (fray one end, hold onto one thread and start gathering).  This took a bit longer than I wanted, but I LOVE how it turned out.  Stamped and punched out the birthday greeting.  Popped it up using Dimensionals.  Put the whole thing on more Dimensionals and on the Daffodil Delight cardstock.  At first, the cardstock was not embossed.  It was so plain looking.  I ran it through the Big Shot with my Perfect Polka Dot folder, rounded the corners, and Voila!  Isn't this a very pretty card?

BTW, to make sure the ribbon stays down, you can use a little bit of Sticky Strip, or run a thin bead of Crystal Effects under the ribbon and let it dry.  I put my E clear block on top, just to make sure the ribbon did adhere.

You probably thought I have disappeared. Rest assured, I have not. I have finally finished my obligation to the fundraiser I inadvertently signed myself up for. And the good news? The fundraiser went off fabulously. They raised the funds they needed and everyone was very excited about all the cards and gift sets we made. I am finally able to unpack my big order from earlier this month. It contains brand new items from the Annual Catalog, plus items from the upcoming Holiday Catalog. I have a Card Buffet to prepare for this weekend. So I will be busy creating creating! I will come back shortly to show off what I've got! Thanks for stopping by!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop July 2012

Hello and welcome to this month's installment of the Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop.  If you came from Shellie's Creative Electica blog, thank you for visiting me!  This month's themes are America/Canada Birthday.  I hope you'll like what I have for you.  And please, give my blogpost some love with your kind comments!


I have made a gift set this time.  It consist of a card, a post-it note holder (or snack-size chocolate holder), and a bookmark.  All packaged together and housed inside a card holder.  The whole thing is held closed with a piece of Designer Fabric.

These gift items are all made with Comfort Cafe DSP and Make a Cake and Itty Bitty Banners sets.  I did a fair amount of paper piecing this time, just because I wanted the cakes to be "decorated."  The embossing folder is a new one from the Annual Catalog, called Argyle.  The scallop square mat you see behind the cake is a cut out from the Perfect Pennants Big Shot die.  The sentiment is cut using the Banners Framelit.

You can find the tutorial for this Post-It Note Holder HERE.  My dimensions are a bit different than in the tutorial.  My finished size is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4.  I started with a piece that is 3 1/4" x 7 1/2".  Using Simply Scored board, I scored at 1/2", 4", 4 1/2".

This bookmark is cut using one of my all-time favorite Big Shot dies, Two Tags die.  If you don't have it, you should seriously consider getting it.  It's a very versatile die.  I apologize that in this photo the bookmark looks a bit wonky.  I don't know why, I'm really sorry about that.

Happy Independence Day, America!  Oops, I totally forgot today is July 4th, and didn't make an appropriate celebratory card.  Hope you'll forgive me.  I do have a pretty card to share, though. :)

This layout is copied from Julie.  I love tearing the paper.  And I love that Stampin' Up!'s cardstock is solid color on the inside too, so you don't see the white core when you tear it, like other manufacturers might.

Hello Lattice!

Look what came in the mail for me?

This is from a good friend that I met through Stampin' Up!  Her name is June Lee.  No, we're not related, and we live on opposite coasts.  But Stampin' has brought us together.  We often chat on FB encouraging each other and inspire each other.  Most recently, June made a set of cards for me for the fundraiser I'm working on.  She is just fabulous!  June doesn't keep up with a regular blog, because she actually has a job (gasp, I know!).  But June is just super super talented.  I have begged her to please at least keep a photo journal of her cards.  Maybe we should start a campaign to get June to do that, what do you think?  You can see some of her work HERE.

Debuting... Eleanor!

Good Monday morning, everyone! Today's card is debuting a brand new stamp set from the Annual Catalog, called Everything Eleanor. I had to have this stamp set when I saw the name. Why? That's my daughter's formal name! It's a good thing it's a darn pretty set, too. :)

I love the simplicity of this card. Isn't it so elegant looking?  This card is CASE'd from the awesome Ann Schach.  Minor changes from her card with colors and ribbon choice.  But it's still just as pretty, isn't it?
