Cherish the Memories

Last year I had made a set of cards for my sister-in-law, who is a fab-O photographer (check out her website HERE), to send out to her clients.  She has run out of them and asked me to make more.  Last year when I was brainstorming what to make for her, I was a bit at a loss.  She is more clean and simple, modern elegant type of a person and style.  I was all about layers and fluff.  Then I went on her website and saw that the background wallpaper is quite similar to some of the stamps we have.  The colors were CLEARLY Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze.  So I set to work.  Sadly, I completely forgot to take pictures last year.  Well this year, I didn't want to forget.  So as soon as I finished this batch, I took a picture.  this is what I made this year.

I used Twitterpated DSP for the background.  Cut a piece of Very Vanilla using Top Note die.  Cut it in half, stamped and placed on top of the DSP.  Then, use Baja Breeze in Designer Frames embossing folder (did you get it for free during Sale-a-Bration???).  Hand cut the perimeter of the embossed piece.  Put aside.  Stamp on Very Vanilla.  If you want to use glitter like the one on the left, cut out a small piece of Big Shot Adhesive sheet and place it over the image.  Or, you can use Vellum.  For the card on the right, I adhered Vellum using Vellum Tape (non-SU).  Using Extra Large Oval punch, punch out the ovals.  For the glitter piece, remove the second backing of the Adhesive Sheet and dunk in glitter.  Then just adhere the piece onto the Baja Breeze embossed piece.  Pop up with Dimensionals.  All done.

Coffee House Creations

Last week I sat at a local cafe and made these cards in under one hour.  It was a nice child-free hour where I could have my coffee and my stamps.  These cards are inspired by THESE CARDS by Susan Carlson.  Look what variety of cards you can make with just some tools.

Diamonds and Glitter Are a Girl's Best Friend!

Remember THESE CARDS?  Well, I just love the layout and the papers, I can't resist making more!

This time, I used Adorning Accents Edgelit for the scallops and added Rhinestones on each scallop.  Then, I decided to try something I saw on Barb's Blog.

Do you see the sparkle?  First, I stamped the image and colored it.  Then I cut a piece of Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to put it on top of the image (remove only one side of the adhesive backing).  Then I punched it out with my circle punch.  Don't worry, you'll be able to see through the second backing so you can still center your image wherever you want.  Remove the second backing, dip in Dazzling Diamonds glitter, and voila!  Instant drama, just how a girl likes it! :)  I love love love this effect.  I am going to make more cards using this technique for sure!

Romance Week #4

Sorry about the lack of post yesterday.  I just didn't get it together early enough.  Here's another card showcasing Bordering on Romance.

I wanted to try out the coordinating stamp that goes with the edgelit.  So this was what I made.  If you enlarged the picture, you would probably see that the dots on the right kind of trailed off.  That's not the stamp's fault, it was me.  I don't have a block long enough for this stamp, and didn't notice that the edge fell out of the width of my block.  Next time I use it, I would probably just use a little Dotto on my Big Shot cutting plate.  It's my go-to "block" for big or long clear-mount stamps.   Hey, a stamper's gotta do with what she's got!

Isn't this so soft and feminine?  I just love the Ruffled Satin ribbon.  Oh, it feels so nice and soft.  I swear sometimes I just want to keep stroking it.  LOL.  I used the Adorning Accents edgelit for the scallops below the ribbon.

Romance Week #1

Happy the day before Valentine's Day!  Since this is the week of love and romance, I thought I should do a Romance week of cards featuring Bordering on Romance stamp set from the Occasions Mini catalog.

The very first card this week is inspired by Chiaki.

I don't usually like to color.  But I'm surprised at how nicely this stamp set shows off colors.  I squeezed some ink from the inkpad onto the lid and used my Blender Pen to pick up the color to color.  I started in the center of the flower, then moved out.  I didn't use watercolor paper.  This is just plain Whisper White.  It still took up colors very well.  Remember to draw the Blender Pen on scratch paper until it runs clear, then you can use it to pick up a different color.  The tip of the pen will be discolored, but don't worry about that.  There is no need for different pen for different color here.
